Second Mentor Meeting

Today I had my second mentor meeting. It was supposed to be yesterday but Miss Fairhall was really really busy so it couldn't happen.

We talked about my ideas and next steps. I have a really cool idea that I like that is based on a book that I'm writing. I haven't drawn it yet so I can't put up a picture. Miss Fairhall said that doing something from the book I'm writing would give it a whole lot more meaning.

Christy and I are organising a time for me to go to the Court Theatre soon so I'm looking forward to that.

My next steps would probably be to keep generating ideas, the more the better! Also to contact someone at Weta Workshops and/or Minifies.

First Mentor Meeting!

I had my first mentor meeting today with Miss Fairhall. We talked about my research, ideas and next steps. My ideas are to do a mythical creature (fairy, goddess etc.) and maybe something to do with snow. I also quite like natural colours like blue and green. Miss Fairhall said I was on the right track and that I have a clear idea of where I'm going and how to get there.

I've also decided that my plan A is to do a cowl (face/head and shoulders) and a costume and my plan B is to do just a cowl. I'm going to assume that I'm doing plan B and if I have enough time when I'm finished, I'll do a costume to match.

I've started a mini-journal for my ideas and inspiration but I haven't written anything in it yet.

My dad also e-mailed me with a link to Dextar FX, a guy who we're pretty sure does prosthetic makeup.

Here's the links to all of the websites I've visited:

Mentor

On the 8th of April we all found out who our mentors teacher are. Every yr 8 girl has a teacher mentor to help and guide her. Your teacher mentor doesn't necessarily need to know about your passion project topic. For example, one of my classmates who is doing modeling got our I.T guy as her mentor!

My mentor is Miss. Fairhall. She is the technology and yr 6 teacher. She also happens to be my mentor for leadership! We have organised a meeting for the first week of next term to talk about my topic. Miss. Fairhall doesn't know anything about prosthetic makeup but that's o.k, i'll just have to teach her.
